Ravi

The river of Chamba. It forms high in Bara Bangahal where the Bhadal and the Tantgari meet, then runs the length of the Chamba valley past the Laxmi Narayan temples.

As the Vedic Purushni it is the river of the Dasarajna, the Battle of the Ten Kings, in the Rig Veda — the earliest battle recorded on Indian soil, and one fought on water that rises in Himachal. The Budhil, which joins it at Khani, comes down from Manimahesh Kailash and carries the yatra route.
