Chamba founded at Bharmour by Maru Varman

Maru Varman founded the state with its seat at Brahmpura (Bharmour). About 130 years later Meru Varman built the shrines of the Chaurasi complex — Lakshana Devi, Shakti Devi (Chhatrari) and Narsingh — whose metal images were cast by the artist Gugga, and whose inscriptions are the oldest dated records in Himachal.
