The Dhami firing
The Dhami Prem Prachani Sabha was banned and its leader Bhagmal Sautha arrested as he led a procession to present demands to Rana Dalip Singh. At Halog the Rana's men opened fire on the crowd. Durga Das was killed and many were injured — the first firing on a popular movement in the hills.
Mansa Ram and Dharam Das were arrested with Sautha. Jawaharlal Nehru took up the case and the lawyer Duni Chand was sent to enquire; a delegation including Rajkumari Amrit Kaur carried the matter to Gandhi and Nehru.
