Mahmud Ghazni sacks Nagarkot

Mahmud of Ghazni took Nagarkot (Kangra) and carried off the accumulated treasure of the Brajeshwari temple — the event is described in the Tarikh-i-Yamini of Utbi. The fort was recovered by the hill chiefs afterwards.

It is the first of four famous captures of Kangra fort: 1009 Ghazni, 1360 Firoz Shah Tughlaq, 1620 Jahangir, 1809 Ranjit Singh.
