Samudragupta's Allahabad pillar names the hill kings

The Allahabad (Prayag) pillar inscription of Samudragupta, composed by Harisena, lists the frontier states that submitted and paid tribute without being conquered. The hill kingdoms of the Punjab Himalaya are among them — the first epigraphic notice of the region in an imperial record.
