Treaty of Jwalamukhi — Kangra fort to Ranjit Singh

Besieged in Kangra fort for four years, Sansar Chand appealed to Maharaja Ranjit Singh. By the agreement concluded at Jwalamukhi in 1809 the Sikhs drove Amar Singh Thapa's Gorkhas out of the Kangra valley — and took the fort for themselves, together with 66 villages.

Sansar Chand was left a tributary. Kangra remained Sikh until the British annexation of 1846.
