Malaun falls; Amar Singh Thapa capitulates
After the loss of Ramgarh and the death of his son Bhakti Thapa in the assault, Amar Singh Thapa surrendered Malaun on terms and withdrew across the Sutlej. The Gorkhas were allowed to march out with their arms; many of their soldiers were promptly enlisted by the British.
The Nasiri battalion — later the 1st Gorkha Rifles — was raised from them and stationed at Subathu. Its Jutogh detachment would mutiny in 1857.
