Event
The Mandi Conspiracy
Emissaries of the Ghadar party, founded by Lala Hardayal in San Francisco, reached Mandi and Suket to recruit for a general rising. The plan included killing the Superintendent and the wazir, looting the treasury and blowing up the Beas bridge at Mandi.
It collapsed; only the Nagchala robbery was carried out. Bhai Hirda Ram was sentenced to death (commuted to transportation), and Swami Krishnanand (Hardev) emerged from the affair as a leading figure.
