The Nirmand copper plate

The Nirmand copper plate (Kullu district) records a grant by Mahasamanta Maharaja Samudrasena of the Sena family, showing the Senas as subordinate rulers under Kuluta. It is the earliest copper-plate charter found in Himachal Pradesh.

The other early epigraphs to remember are the Pathyar and Kanihara rock inscriptions (Kangra), the Hatkoti cave inscription (Shimla) and the Salanu inscription (Mandi).
