Pin Glacier lies in the Pin valley of Spiti, inside the Pin Valley National Park, and feeds the Pin river — which joins the Spiti, and the Spiti in turn joins the Sutlej at Khab.
The Pin valley is cold-desert country, one of the driest tracts in the state, and its glacier sits squarely in the Chandra and Spiti belt that this roster's standard retreat question is built around — recession here is watched for its bearing on the Sutlej's hydel schemes downstream and on glacial-lake outburst flood risk.
