Dal Lake, Dharamshala

This Dal Lake, in Kangra above McLeodganj, takes its name from the far more famous one in Srinagar but is otherwise unrelated to it — the two are easy to confuse in an objective question and should not be.

It sits close to Tsuglagkhang and Namgyal Monastery, the residence of the 14th Dalai Lama and seat of the Central Tibetan Administration since 1960, the institutions that give McLeodganj its wider significance.
