Manimahesh Lake

Manimahesh Lake, in Chamba, lies directly below Manimahesh Kailash, the peak held sacred as Shiva's abode and, unlike the state's other high peaks, never climbed.

The lake is the destination of the Manimahesh yatra, held in August–September — pilgrims bathe in the lake with the peak as backdrop, the mountain itself being the object of worship rather than an ascent.
