Renuka Lake

Renuka, in Sirmaur, is the largest natural lake in Himachal Pradesh — the one fact about this roster every candidate must have cold. Seen from above it is said to trace the outline of a reclining woman, and the lake is identified with Renuka herself, mother of the sage Parshuram.

It draws the Renukaji fair every November, when the meeting of Renuka and Parshuram is re-enacted at the water's edge, and it was designated a Ramsar site in 2005 — one of only three the state holds.
