Meru Varman

The most important early ruler of Chamba. He built the shrines of the Chaurasi complex at Bharmour — Lakshana Devi, Narsingh and Ganesha — and the Shakti Devi temple at Chhatrari. The brass images were cast by the artist Gugga, whose name appears in the inscriptions.

The Meru Varman inscriptions are the oldest firmly dated records in Himachal Pradesh.
