Maharaja Ranjit Singh

Extended Sikh authority over the western hill states. In 1809 he relieved Sansar Chand in Kangra fort, expelled the Gorkhas from the valley, and took the fort and 66 villages for himself. The hill rajas of Kangra, Nurpur, Guler, Jaswan, Datarpur, Siba, Kutlehr, Mandi and Kullu became his tributaries.

Sikh rule over Kangra lasted until the Treaty of Lahore (1846), when it passed to the British.
