Yashpal

Born at Firozpur to a family from Hamirpur, he joined the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association with Bhagat Singh and Chandrashekhar Azad, and became its commander after Azad's death. Arrested in 1932, he was sentenced to a long term.

In prison and after, he became one of the major Hindi novelists of the century; Jhootha Sach is his best-known work.
