Peak
Reo Purgyil
The highest mountain in Himachal Pradesh at 6,816 m, standing on the Kinnaur border with Tibet at the southern end of the Zanskar range. It rises directly above the Sutlej where the river has just entered India, so the state's highest point and its principal river gate are within sight of each other.
The massif has twin summits and is the culminating point of the ridge dividing the Spiti and Sutlej drainages. It was first climbed by an Indo-Tibetan Border Police team, and remains an inner-line area requiring a permit.
