A Sirmaur offshoot in the upper Pabbar valley, best known for its palace (a striking hybrid of hill and European design) and for the strength of its Praja Mandal, which forced constitutional concessions before 1948.
Jubbal's apple economy, seeded from Kotgarh, made it unusually prosperous, and its educated peasantry made it one of the centres of the Himalayan Hill States Regional Council.
