Suket
| Seat | pangna |
|---|---|
| Capital | Pangna → Lohara → Sundernagar (Banned) |
| Dynasty | Sena |
| Group | Punjab Hill States |
| Founder | Bir Sen (Vir Sen) |
| Founded | c. 765 CE |
| Merged | 1948 — the last state to accede |
The elder branch of the Sena line and one of the oldest states in the region, traditionally founded about 765 CE by Bir Sen, with its first capital at Pangna. The younger branch broke away to become Mandi, and the two states quarrelled for the next eight centuries.
Suket matters disproportionately for the freedom-struggle paper because of its ending. The Suket Satyagraha, launched from Tattapani on 18 February 1948 under Pandit Padam Dev, was the last popular movement against a hill ruler; Suket's accession completed the integration that created Himachal Pradesh on 15 April 1948.
- Capitals in order: Pangna → Lohara → Sundernagar.
- Suket's fort at Pangna is among the oldest surviving hill forts in HP.
- Sundernagar was renamed from Banned; it is now the site of the Beas–Sutlej Link power house.
